Drayage
Drayage is the short-haul movement of ocean or rail containers between a port or ramp and a nearby warehouse, yard or rail terminal. Moves are usually under 100 miles but subject to per diem, demurrage and chassis charges.
Why it matters
Drayage economics hinge on turn times and free-day management more than on mileage.
