Flatbed
A flatbed is an open trailer with no walls or roof, used for freight that cannot be loaded through a dock door — steel, lumber, machinery and building materials. Loads must be secured and usually tarped.
Why it matters
Flatbed pays more per mile but adds securement labor, tarping and higher injury risk.
