Hazmat Endorsement
A hazmat endorsement authorizes a CDL holder to transport hazardous materials requiring placards. It requires a written test, a TSA security threat assessment and fingerprint-based background check, renewed periodically.
Why it matters
Hazmat freight pays a premium but adds placarding, routing and documentation obligations.
