Operating Ratio
Operating ratio is operating expenses divided by operating revenue, expressed as a percentage. An OR of 95 means 95 cents of every revenue dollar goes to expenses, leaving five cents of operating margin.
Why it matters
Lower is better. Well-run small fleets target the mid-80s to low-90s.
