Reefer
A reefer is a refrigerated trailer with its own diesel-powered cooling unit, used to haul temperature-controlled freight such as produce, meat, dairy and pharmaceuticals at a specified set point.
Why it matters
Reefer fuel is tracked separately from tractor fuel because it is not subject to the same road tax treatment.
