Electronic Logging Device
An electronic logging device (ELD) is hardware connected to a commercial vehicle's engine that automatically records driving time, engine hours, movement and location to enforce hours-of-service rules. Most interstate carriers are required to use one.

ELD data also produces the mileage-by-state records that make IFTA filing straightforward.
