What is Hours of Service?

Also written as HOS

Hours of service (HOS) are the federal rules limiting how long a commercial driver may drive and work. Property-carrying drivers get an 11-hour driving limit within a 14-hour window after 10 consecutive hours off, with a 60/7 or 70/8 cycle limit.

Why it matters in day-to-day operations

HOS violations are among the most common findings in a DOT audit and directly affect CSA scores.
